The Golden Beach is one of the most famous and cosmopolitan beaches in the island. It is 22km from Parikia and very close to the coastal settlement Drios. This nice beach with the golden sand is a 700m long beach on the south eastern part of the island of Paros. It takes its name from the fine sand, which has glass elements in it and provides a sparkling effect during sunshine.
Golden Beach has become a popular destination for wind-surfers and kite-surfers from around the world due to the windy conditions inside as well as outside the small bay. Among others you can find boats for rent, rescue boats and windsurfing lessons, both for beginners and advanced students. It is also ideal for water sports and yacht activities. Across the beach lies the small uninhabited island of Drionisi, which can be reached only by boat. You will sunbathe on one of the sun beds, or you will relax under the shade of an umbrella, enjoying the spectacle of the surfers.
